Recently I was invited to go and speak at a local school about packaging.
Class 3 (years 5 and 6) were going to have an art project about packaging and they invited me to come and give them a wider perspective on what is all about.
My experience working in a packaging company and being a Graphic Designer gives me the tools to explain a wider concept for kids to understand all the different aspects of packaging.
In this talk we covered topics like:
The kids were absolute stars and they asked many questions along the talk, and that was absolutely brilliant to see. It was also inspiring to see so many of them taking an interest into packaging and the different things that can be done.
Some of them even wanted to find out where they could get some of the displayed examples!
They were so excited to start their projects that they asked me if I could come back when the projects were all finished and choose the winners. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if they meant it for real, so was definitely not expecting to go back and help choose the winners!
Once the projects were completed, I was asked to go back into school and choose three projects to win. Their teacher Miss “U” was considering getting in touch with a retailer to get them to produce a prototype of the winner package and get it displayed on the shelves. They would then photograph it and show it to the kids so they could have an idea what it would look like in real life.
Most of the projects were amazing and the kids put so much effort into it. The project needed to be done during class time, so they didn’t have a lot of time to be able to do it, so the results are even more surprising!
Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all for allowing me to come along and share my knowledge. It has been a privilege.
This was such an amazing experience, the kids really showed how much they enjoyed doing their projects and how thankful they were as well for having me come along their class and explain a bit about packaging and how it all works.
Thank you all.
