This can be a sore subject in our Industry, but I feel very strongly about this and thought I should share what we feel it’s important in how we run our business.
Ever since I can remember, I never felt 100% right with all that Marketing is capable and as an ally – Design as well. These industries can be very pushy and very “in your face” when they want to, and that never felt right to me.
A few times over the past few years, I have even considered maybe this is the wrong area for me, maybe this is just “how it is”. But then a light shines and you’re able to put into perspective what you love to do and a way to do it that is beneficial. Not only for your mental health, but also for your community and the people surrounding you.
Design can be so much more than £££! Design can be about sharing your knowledge, helping out people that deserve to be seen, people or communities that deserve to be heard! Personally it’s all about how you do it.
This being said, I will never stop having free projects, or discounted projects for friends and family. Yes, it is frowned upon in our Industry, but here at Wisebox Studio we believe it’s so much more than that. It’s about helping out when you can.
It’s about sharing your knowledge and giving out a hand if and when you’re able to.
Of course businesses need to be profitable, and therefore charge money for projects. But we believe that being able to care about how you do it, won’t make your business less successful. On the contrary, it will make you more approachable and relatable.
So, if you ever feel like you need some help, some advice or even you wanted to have something done for your business but don’t have the means to do it. Please get in touch, there’s always a way!
