Why you should optimise your website

O-pti-mi-sation!

It’s these insane words that professionals use that throws you off isn’t it?

For sure it would send me running the other way!

What this means exactly is how your website should be performing in different platforms, different applications and different devices. What you see on a desk monitor will be different than your mobile phone for example.

This happens because there’s a massive difference in the screen ratio between devices.

The other issue as well, although nowadays less noticeable, is the platform you’re using. If for instance you’re using Google Chrome, what other people see using Safari or Edge might be a little different. and I’m not talking about colours.

I’m talking about where the elements on a page are situated.

If you have forms, or things aligning in columns, they might become slightly different from device to device, or even between browsers.

For us professionals when dealing with this, we shouldn’t simply create a “one version website” this will severely compromise how your website might be seen. And therefore your brand and business.

For example, on our website, there’s an almost even split between desktop viewing and mobile viewing. Therefore, it needs to be “optimised” for both devices. And let’s not forget tablets!

In saying this, when you’re thinking of DIYing you own website, please don’t forget this, because it will make a massive difference on how people see your business. This also includes how people see your business online, meaning – social media as well. But that’s a whole different article!

Advice from a professional, if you want your website to look right at all times, make sure you don’t forget this word (I know…): O-pti-mi-sation!

You’re welcome! And as always, if you need any help, or just some advice, feel free to get in touch!
